tradeJoey Porter Jr. traded to Cowboys
The Steelers traded cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Cowboys on Sept. 30 for a 2028 second-round pick and a conditional 2027 sixth-round pick (the sixth-rounder converts only if Porter is on Dallas's gameday roster for two games), ending a months-long standoff. Porter missed Pittsburgh's first three games after turning down an offer worth roughly $27 million for 2026 in the final year of his rookie deal. He has "a chance" to play for Dallas in Week 4 pending a practice look from the team.
Fantasy take
Porter's coverage numbers from last season (74.1 PFF grade, 56.2 opposing passer rating, zero touchdowns allowed in primary coverage) were earned in Pittsburgh's scheme, not Dallas's, and he's walking into a Cowboys room that already has DaRon Bland and Cobie Durant at corner. Three weeks without a snap and an unfamiliar defense make IDP-only value hard to project before he's even practiced.

injuryJayden Reed out for the season, needs neck surgery
Packers WR Jayden Reed will have season-ending neck surgery, head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Wednesday, and Green Bay placed him on injured reserve. The injury happened in Week 2 at the Jets when a defender's shoulder pad struck his helmet on a 4-yard catch; he was stabilized on a backboard and carted off. LaFleur said it isn't believed to be career-ending, but Reed will be out "a significant amount of time." He had caught 4 passes for 24 yards in 2 games this season.
Fantasy take
Reed was averaging two catches a game before the injury, a share that was never going to anchor the offense on its own — the bigger swing is subtraction from an already thin receiving corps behind Jordan Love. Green Bay goes into the rest of the season leaning on Christian Watson and Matthew Golden on the outside with Tucker Kraft underneath, and the vacated snaps and targets likely get split further down the depth chart among Bo Melton, Skyy Moore, and Savion Williams rather than concentrated on one clear replacement.
injuryJayden Daniels avoids elbow surgery, ruled out vs. Seahawks
Commanders GM Adam Peters said Wednesday that Jayden Daniels will not need surgery on his twice-dislocated left elbow and won't go on injured reserve — X-rays came back negative for fracture, and a "simple" dislocation without bone damage rarely requires surgery. Head coach Dan Quinn ruled Daniels out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks; he's week-to-week with no firm return date.
Fantasy take
Daniels' second elbow dislocation of the season came back clean on X-rays, which is why Peters moved fast to rule out surgery and an IR stint — a simple dislocation with no bone damage is a different injury than the structural concerns that would have ended his season. Quinn has him out Sunday against Seattle with no firm timeline, so this becomes a week-to-week watch rather than a multi-week absence on paper. Washington's backup quarterback gets at least one more start while Daniels works through it.
injuryRico Dowdle out again; Jaylen Warren has the workload for Thursday Night Football
Steelers RB Rico Dowdle (toe) is ruled out for tonight's Week 4 game at Cleveland, his second straight missed game after not practicing all week. With Dowdle out in Week 3 too, Jaylen Warren played 90.3% of Pittsburgh's offensive snaps and finished with 127 rushing yards and 49 receiving yards. Pittsburgh (2-1) visits Cleveland (2-1), whose offense ranks third-worst in the league in total yards and is averaging 18 points a game.
Fantasy take
Warren's workload last week wasn't a product of a healthy bell-cow plan — he played through a limited practice week of his own with a shoulder issue, and still turned it into a career-high 176 scrimmage yards on 90% of snaps. Dowdle sitting again removes the only real competition for early-down work that briefly existed this summer, when the Steelers brought him in from Dallas specifically to cut into Warren's workload. A short week against a Cleveland defense bleeding 18 points a game is a second straight look at what Warren does as the clear workhorse rather than in the timeshare the offseason signing was supposed to create.
injuryBreece Hall week-to-week with quad injury, out vs. Bears
Jets RB Breece Hall is week-to-week with a quad injury suffered Sept. 27 against Detroit on a second-and-goal carry from the Lions' 4-yard line. An MRI showed the injury is less serious than initially feared, and the team believes he can avoid injured reserve if he returns within four weeks. Hall is not expected to play Week 4 against the Bears.
Fantasy take
Braelon Allen steps into the lead role for Week 4, which was already trending that direction: he out-snapped Hall 52% to 32 snaps in Week 3 before the injury, then took 6 of the Jets' final 7 backfield touches once Hall left the game. Isaiah Davis is the next man up behind him, projected as the passing-down complement given his receiving usage history, but he enters Week 4 with no regular-season touches yet this year.
