tradeColts kick off fire sale: Nelson to Seahawks, Buckner to 49ers
The Colts (2-5) traded G Quenton Nelson to Seattle for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick, and sent DT DeForest Buckner back to San Francisco for a 2027 fourth-round pick — both deals announced Tuesday, Oct. 27, days after Indianapolis fired GM Chris Ballard. RB Jonathan Taylor is the next name in trade speculation: ESPN's Adam Schefter said "my understanding is that the owner doesn't want to trade Jonathan Taylor... if I had to guess today, I don't think they will trade Jonathan Taylor," while ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported a deal would cost a second-round pick "and possibly more." The trade deadline is Nov. 10.
Fantasy take
Nelson and Buckner were the most movable pieces on the roster — both impending free agents in Ballard-built units with little left for Indianapolis to extract beyond draft capital. Taylor is a different asset: he's on the last year of his deal, a $15.56M cap hit but only $2.56M in dead money if he's moved, which is exactly the kind of contract that makes a contender's trade call cheap for Indianapolis to say yes to. Schefter's report that ownership doesn't want to move him, paired with Raanan's price tag of a second-round pick "and possibly more," reads as a front office testing the market rather than shutting the door. Nothing here changes Taylor's workload or role in Indianapolis before Nov. 10 — Richardson, Downs, Warren and the rest of the skill group are unaffected either way.
injuryLamar Jackson trending toward Week 8 return
After missing three straight games with an ankle injury, Lamar Jackson is trending toward playing Sunday against Buffalo. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that he expects Jackson to play; Wednesday's practice is the next checkpoint before a final Ravens decision.
Fantasy take
Zay Flowers' target share hasn't moved with Huntley at quarterback — 29 to 35 percent across the three missed games, in line with where it sat under Jackson. He caught 8 of 11 targets for 137 yards this past Sunday against Pittsburgh, his best output of the three-game stretch. A healthy Jackson changes the air-yards profile and red-zone opportunity more than it changes whether Flowers sees the ball.
injurySaquon Barkley's back issue clouds Week 8 status
The back injury Barkley suffered on a 29-yard run Monday night against Dallas was compensatory — he said it stemmed from tweaking his hamstring earlier in the game and trying to play through it. Philadelphia listed him questionable to return and he didn't play after the third quarter. The issue leaves considerable doubt about his availability Sunday against Washington.
Fantasy take
Pierce hasn't carried real work anywhere this season — 14 totes in a reserve role before Philadelphia picked him up — so there's no proven partner to absorb a real workload if Barkley sits. Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley are the other bodies on the depth chart, but neither has shown anything in meaningful snaps this year. If Barkley is out Sunday, the Eagles are patching the backfield from spare parts rather than handing it to a ready-made setup man.
injuryMicah Parsons eyes practice return, but Week 12 is the real target
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Monday he's hopeful Micah Parsons (torn ACL and meniscus last December, surgery followed two weeks later) returns to practice next week, though the decision is ultimately medical. Because Green Bay plays Thursday at Carolina and has a Week 11 bye, his actual return to game action may not come until Week 12 against New England.
Fantasy take
This slots into a longer pattern of optimistic return windows sliding back; for IDP purposes it's a depth-chart note at most, not a fantasy-relevant one in standard formats. The Thursday-game, Week 11 bye scheduling quirk is the only real new wrinkle — it stretches a "next week" practice return into a game appearance roughly a month out.
injuryGiants place Tyrone Tracy Jr. on IR; Singletary's role grows
The Giants placed Tyrone Tracy Jr. on IR Tuesday with a hamstring injury suffered Sunday against Houston (6 carries, 15 yards, 1 TD in the overtime win). GM Joe Schoen said Tracy is expected back later this season, but the move costs him at least four games. Devin Singletary is set for a bigger role behind starter Cam Skattebo.
Fantasy take
Singletary played a feature-complementary role behind Skattebo in 2025 — close to half the offensive snaps across a full season — before Tracy's emergence pushed him back to a situational piece this year. Tracy had already been fading into a rotational role before Tuesday's move, logging 38% of snaps in Week 6 and as little as 2% in Week 2, so the carries Singletary absorbs now continue a shift that started before the hamstring injury. Skattebo remains the early-down and goal-line answer; Singletary's gain is in the passing-down and change-of-pace work Tracy had been doing.
The Nov. 10 trade deadline is now less than two weeks out, and Indianapolis has made clear it's willing to deal.
